Site & Pad Construction
Site prep and pad construction that gets the ground ready to build.
Before a slab gets poured or a building goes up, the ground has to be right — graded to spec, compacted to bear the load, and draining the way the engineer designed it. Rangefinder Excavation handles site and pad construction across the Permian Basin, from commercial building pads to oilfield well pad construction.
We've built pads for subdivisions, commercial lots, and well sites throughout West Texas since 2018. We work off your plans, hit your grade tolerances, and communicate through the whole job so there are no surprises when your GC or engineer shows up to inspect.

Our Process
Review plans and stake the site
We review your site plan or engineer's grading plan, stake the pad boundaries, and confirm elevations before any dirt moves.
Clear and rough grade
The site is cleared and rough graded to establish cut-and-fill balance, keeping haul-off and imported material costs down where possible.
Compact to spec
Pad material is placed and compacted in lifts to the density your project requires, with testing coordinated as needed.
Final grade and drainage
We finish-grade to design elevations and shape drainage so water moves off the pad the way it's supposed to.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work from engineered site plans?
Yes, most of our commercial and well pad work is built directly off engineered grading plans. We stake to your elevations and coordinate with your engineer or GC through the job.
Can you handle both the pad and the access road?
Yes — most pad projects need an access road too, and we typically scope both together so grading and drainage work as one system instead of two disconnected jobs.
What's the difference between site prep and pad construction?
Site prep is the broader clearing and rough grading of a property. Pad construction is the more precise, compacted, to-spec ground that a building, tank, or equipment actually sits on. We handle both, often on the same project.
